The eDesk division of PBS specialises in providing our customers with tailored document management solutions.
eDesk's strength lies in its detailed understanding of document management systems and in its ability to provide a full portfolio of document-related consultancy services to local businesses.
For a wide range of reasons - security, ease of access, long-term storage issues - it will often make sound business sense to have hard copy documents bulk-scanned to an electronic format. Virtually any paper document can be digitised: from till receipts and train tickets, through A3/A4 correspondence, to A1/A0 plans and drawings.
eDesk's scanning bureau was designed from the outset to process confidential paperwork, and this is reflected in our Non-Disclosure and Service Level Agreements , the physical security of our premises and the integrity of our staff.
Scanned documents are converted to the file format of the customer's choice e.g. TIFF, JPG or PDF (with searchable text generated via Optical Character Recognition, if required). Indexing is applied according to customer requirements and images are delivered in a format suitable for import into a range of possible destinations, such as:
a simple Microsoft Windows directory structure; or,
a specialised document management system such as ADOS, Interwoven WorkSite, Hummingbird, IBM Content Manager or INVU; or,
a web-based knowledge management system such as Microsoft SharePoint.
As well as paper conversion, we are experienced at digitising microfiche/microfilm and converting these semi-obsolete standards to a modern, electronic format. This makes valuable film-based data more readily available to end users and negates the need to replace old and obsolete fiche/film readers.
In addition to capturing archived documents, we provide and support software for the organisation and management of ‘live' office documents. Where customers have a need to capture incoming hard copy correspondence eDesk can advise on the use of simple-to-use scanning solutions using eCopy software as the link between scanner and computer system.
For clients with specific, regular or substantial print requirements eDesk provides a Managed Print Service (MPS) tailored to bespoke Service Level Agreements according to end customer needs.
